Our America
How we became the red white and blue
I listen to the music of the young men in Celtic Thunder and feel the songs they sing of their Ireland and Scotland homes oh so wistfully.
I feel the places they recall just as blissfully, as my Mother’s own Parents came from there. Also from a place called Denmark across that dangerous sea traveled my Father’s Parental pair. They came to America to carry on their lives and make use of their ability to work on a land they knew was free.
To build their own farms on which they grew both wheat and meat to feed the growing family. Those American children soon left the farms and traveled the U.S.A. wide, to go to Cities where they hoped to find a choice of good future mates presented.
Others like them, raised as Americans, but from more distant places like Germany, France and Spain, thus the American gene pool grew thicker with six nations represented,
Those babies as adults found mates from further afar again, from which even a larger gene pool grew.
They now had Columbia, China and Africa and more all together in this worldly American stew.
It seemed that there was not a place which offered a pretty face that was not part of the group.
American can’t lose with all of those good genes from which they now have to choose. The little ones seemed to be born with a wise manner and abilities in everything they seek to try. If they work as hard their ancestors did, America will not falter or fail, in any endeavor and She will continue to reach for the sky.
