The Moon for June came out too soon, why I cannot say, but it arrived one day, on the last of May, and said I am here to stay, so just keep on playing, because I am staying, no matter what you say. No you must wait, it’s not the right date, the Sun ordered him away… So, The man in the Moon asked for a spoon, because like a goon, the last star of May, wants him to play, a happy spoon tune, then stop very soon, on the dot of high noon, because lunch is on the way. He’ll sit and stay to dine where he lay, without any pay, as he wanted to sleep, on the dune with the sheep, as they don’t make a peep, and never will weep, as the little ones leap, when they should be asleep, but still creep, up so high in the fresh air, with not even a care, with wool socks to wear, that will always be there, if they order another pair, but sure they must share, for even a bear, will not care, if they’re so rare, and try not to dare wear, an unmatched pair, when they must beware, as they shrink everywhere, if it’s a hot day and the date was late May, when the Moon begins to stray, it won’t feel brave this crazy way, so he’ll watch for the Sun, and began to run, when the light does come to see the new day, Like a limp helium balloon the Moon will drop and lay, upon the soft hay, to rest from this last day. Then the Sun takes a turn, and begins to not burn, as bright as high noon. It takes an hour to wait...
BEVERLY’S MID-NIGHT LAMENT...
There was a time not long ago when I knew so many facts Then my brain put them all away and told me to just relax The things are there in storage and I don’t need them every day So why should I be worried that they really will not stay. If I ask myself a question the answer is so slow I must begin to wonder, where did that answer go? Why do I need to wait so long for thoughts to sort themselves all out? The answers once would come so quick and now I must wait about Did I ever know that once? I ask myself to think. Maybe I never did learn that or I’d tell me in a wink Perhaps we need a course in school for those who forgot so much To learn again the grades from K to 12 just to keep in touch, If not I must open my old books and read them like I should If only to prove that my head is working and not closed down for good I’d shake out the storage I know I have and waken the cells that sleep Just to answer the questions I choose to ask and never need to weep over waiting so long to know what I know I know without wondering when… those easy answers will flow as fast as I ask them over and over again. Saturn shines, with many rings of gold. Jupiter has sixteen moons. Mars is forth in the...
Hot Tub Astronomy: A Fire On The Moon...
Watching the sky from the hot tub is an educational and relaxing game. Just remember that what you see and reality, may not be the same. It was a dark and stormy night, as this tale begins. Well, thats nearly true. Anyway, dark and cold, but with the heat of the Jacuzzi, we enjoyed the cold breeze, too. When suddenly in a clearing, out over the sea, a crescent moon came into view. “Look at that moon!” my spouse said to me.”I see a fire! Do you?” A fire on the MOON? We know that can’t be. We didn’t believe i t. Would you? The top most point of the crescent moon had the tiniest little flame. We stared at that fire in total awe. Wondering what to blame? A fire on the moon never has been and seeing is NOT believing. Go get the binoculars? No! No! Its Impossible to think of leaving. The flame dropped from the moon, just a little below, not too far away. There it stayed bright and white, like the planet venus on an impromptu stay. Time stood still. But the seconds ticked on, as the flame glowed yellow and the moon was gone. It wasn’t the moon! Couldn’t have been the moon! The moon had been up in the day. White to yellow it changed. Yellow to orange, brighter or closer, we couldn’t say. If it’s coming closer, perhaps, we should go! Shouldn’t we get out of the way? Move from this spot? No! Not I! I’ll watch it now, come what may. For thirty long seconds, in very slow motion, we watched it fall quietly toward the black ocean. Then it was gone! How quiet and dark! The silence was extreme! No one spoke. We stared at the...
